JCMT Ladies’ Night

Here at the Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust, we provide subsidised mountain safety courses to young people (18-30) from the UK; helping them learn how to walk and climb safely in the mountains. We run three courses: a Scottish Winter Course, an Alpine Preparation Course and a Summer Alpine Course in Chamonix.

There are now more women using climbing walls and getting outside at crags than ever before and, while some of our courses have equal numbers of male and female participants, our summer alpine courses see noticeably fewer applications from women.

With this in mind, we’re running a special ‘Ladies’ Night’ event on Zoom to try and understand why this might be and to answer any questions potential course attendees may have.

There will be a short presentation from JCMT trustee Amy Illingworth and then an opportunity for you to ask questions of Amy and British Mountain Guide Lou Reynolds who helps to deliver our alpine courses. Whether you’re concerned about your experience, kit or the gender balance of courses, we’dlove to hear from you and answer any questions you may have, however small they may seem.

The event will be held via Zoom on Monday 13th February with a start time of 7PM.

You will need to sign up to attend via Google Form and we will send out the Zoom link to all attendees ahead of time.

Trans women and non-binary people are very welcome to attend.
