Alpine Preparation Course at Plas y Brenin 2012

This is the second year we are subsidising 24 places on this course.  Photos and feedback would be most welcomed which can be included on this website.

Phil Ewels – Website Designer

Phil Ewels completed the Scottish Winter Course and Alpine Course in 2010.  I was made aware that in his spare time whilst studying at Cambridge, he designs websites.  I approached him to ask if he could assist with managing our site and make it more user friendly.  He is generously donating his time to do this, for no cost, thus saving money that can go directly towards funding one or more students per annum.  Thank you Phil.

Sad news…

On 21st January 2011 Jonathan’s mother Anne Conville died peacefully in her sleep of broncho-pneumonia.  Although not a Trustee she worked tirelessly fundraising for the Trust over a period of 30 years by opening her beautiful garden in Hampshire on the National Garden Scheme every year, and regularly made donations when the Trust was sometimes stretched financially. Along with her husband Michael and his brother David, the idea was collectively theirs to create a Charity that would financially assist young people climbing.  She was proud that the Charity had evolved and grown so successfully, and that it has become available to so many young people.

Off Piste Essentials

The Trust was very pleased to be able to make a contribution towards the making of “Off Piste Essentials” DVD, which will educate and inspire all those wanting to ski or board of all standards. The skills illustrate a progression through off piste skiing to multi day ski tours and ski mountaineering in glacial terrain.

In the spirit of the Trust, we continue to help young people enjoy the mountains safely.

Copies can be obtained from the British Mountaineering Council online shop and outdoor retailers.
